Hello & bonjour!
We are Céline and Alex, a couple of 30-somethings, French and English respectively. In 2015 we decided to realise a shared long-held dream of spending a long time travelling around and seeing the world.
Depending on which one of us you ask, that 'long time' is either 12 months (according to Céline) or 14 months (if you ask Alex). Hence the name of this blog. So far it's the most common answer we've given to the oft repeated question of 'how long are you away for?'.
We're writing this for ourselves, so we have a log of all our thoughts and photos, and also for friends and family so they can keep abreast of our movements (and make plans to join us, if they feel inclined). If you don't know us yet and you've found us via the web, we hope there's something here of interest.
Céline will be posting in both English and French, whereas Alex all but exhausted his French in the opening line of this post so will be writing in English.
We plan to cover updates of the countries we visit, the food we've eaten, the people we've met and the things we've seen. If we get round to it there will hopefully be some thoughtful posts dotted in covering broader ideas associated to our trip. However we intended to start our travels in the Philippines and at just over two weeks in we've been to India and are currently in Malaysia, and heading to Myanmar next. If this is anything to go by, plans for the blog may also be subject to change.
